Open Positions:  Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade.

Chontales Academy is seeking creative, energetic, caring, and talented Early Childhood and Elementary teachers to be pioneers during their inaugural year! Chontales Academy is an International Elementary School opening its doors in August 2018.

This is a unique opportunity for people who want to make a difference in the world. Located far from the path of tourists, the school is located in Juigalpa, Chontales, Nicaragua. This beautiful region of Nicaragua borders Lake Granada and is home to the rugged Amerrisque mountain chain. True cowboy country; most of the region’s economy is generated by cattle ranching and gold mining. In the small city, it is not uncommon for horses to be parked on the streets beside the cars.

The career opportunity is also unique — as a small school just starting out, everyone gets to wear many hats and be a part of building traditions and routines that the school will follow for years to come. You will get teaching experience, counseling experience, administrative experience, and you will be free to be creative to make a huge impact in the lives of the children attending Chontales Academy.

Requirements:

  • 4-year university degree (Liberal Arts preferred)
  • Teaching experience preferred (not essential).
  • With or without teaching experience, applicants must be willing to learn and grow as a teacher in order to engage students and help them appreciate how exciting learning can be.

Job Offer:

Although the salary is modest, it is well above the regional norms for teachers. As the school grows in years to come, so will teacher salaries.  The package includes a large private room and private bathroom. Meals, housekeeping, laundry and internet are also included. Your time will be yours to dedicate to the school, the students, and to exploring and enjoying Nicaragua.  Additional income can be earned by teaching in the ESL Camps for Children, also provided at Chontales Academy.

If you are flexible, committed to making a difference in this world, and willing to embark on exciting adventures, please send your resume to chontalesacademy@gmail.com. And please explain why this job interests you.
