Dr. Eric Crane is best described as an educational entrepreneur. With over 35 years of experience in the field of education, Eric has experience in teaching, administration, governance, and research; but his real passion is school start-ups. The school start-up process must begin by developing a thorough understanding of the values and vision of the school owners. Then a wide variety of market data needs to be collected and analyzed. Based on this information, a robust financial model is developed. The financial model becomes the foundation for financial forecasting, raising capital, establishing fees and tuition, and ultimately for making a “go/no-go” decision about whether to move ahead with the start-up. If it’s a “go” then the real work begins. This includes government relations, finding or building the right facility, obtaining the necessary licenses and permits, recruiting staff, forming a board of directors, building the curriculum, and marketing the new school. Eric has experience will all of these elements of new school start-ups.
Eric also has experience and expertise in the areas of:
- Strategic planning
- Executive leadership
- Financial modeling
- Developing values, vision, and mission statements
- The power of the affective domain
